Reality Check (study for a protest)

2023-ongoing

Electrical wires, ongoing collection of dismissed school brass bells, time-randomizing device, bell sounds, random movements, signs of time. Mutable form during exhibition.

Installation view, Wake-up call, ArtNoble Gallery, with a text by Irene Sofia Comi

The sculpture is composed of electrical cables hanging from the ceiling, connected to dismissed school brass bells lying on the floor, apparently immobile and out of order. They have lost their original function and become sculptural elements. They will ring again, perhaps, with unpredictable timing—alone or in a disorderly chorus—as if protesting their former role. Vibrating, they move, shifting position slightly, generating an ever-changing sculptural materiality.
